The details include what to use for the pool decking (flagstone–pricey, stamped concrete–cracks, plain concrete–cheapest and looks it) the coping (–should it match the decking or contrast?), the sanitizing system (we are trying not to use a lot of chlorine and are being told that a copper ionizer would be good), the filter, even the depth. We are also trying to decide whether to use a built in carefree jet system to the robot that stays in the pool most of the time and crawls around the bottom to clean the pool. The carefree system is pricey but you don’t have to look at the robot a lot of the time. Then when you add in the plants and lighting, the spa and all the ancillary choices that go with the spa, there is a lot to choose from. AND we want to do something with the front of the house which looks pretty plain right now, and have that coordinate with the inside and back.
Right now the most pressing seems to be the decking and coping of the pool. We’ve made decisions about the other details of the pool based on what I could find on the internet–for what that is worth. You don’t really know since the posts could just be from distributors/sellers rather than plain old users.
I hope to add a pic of the plans to this blog soon so you can at least see the plan we are using.
all those pesky details
December 23, 2006 at 2:09 am | In swimming pools | 3 CommentsMy husband and I are embarking on installing an inground swimming pool and landsaping project. We have been dreaming about doing this for several years and are just about to sign the contact. You know, feels like signing your life away since you cannot possibly know about all of the details and choices. Like the automatic carefree pool cleaning system–is it worth having? Sounds nice–it sweeps the dirt to the filter drain but who knows if it really is worth the extra bucks to get it.
Hello world!
